ChatGPT Business and Enterprise pricing in 2026: seat prices, premium seats and what Enterprise adds
The two Business seat types, the 200-seat ceiling, what only Enterprise adds, and where the bill drifts.
The short answer
ChatGPT Business costs USD 20 per seat per month billed annually or USD 25 monthly, with premium seats at USD 100 and USD 125 for 5x usage. Enterprise is quote-only. A 50-seat team pays USD 12,000 a year on annual standard seats at list price, before any discount.

OpenAI sells ChatGPT to companies in two shapes. Business is self-serve from 2 to 200 seats at published prices, and Enterprise is a negotiated contract with no list price.
This guide uses the prices on OpenAI's business pricing page, read on 17 October 2026, and covers this page's scope only: Business and Enterprise, not the individual Plus or Pro plans.
Prices below were recorded on 17 October 2026. The headline figure is the lowest price you can get for that plan. Check the official page before you buy, because vendors change prices without notice.

How billing works
ChatGPT Business runs from 2 to 200 seats and lets you mix standard and premium seat types, so the invoice is a blend and not one rate. Annual billing is USD 20 per standard seat and USD 100 per premium seat, and monthly is USD 25 and USD 125. Enterprise is not self-serve and not published. OpenAI quotes it, and the page lists invoicing and volume discounts as Enterprise features, which tells you the price is a negotiation and the discount depends on how many seats you bring. Spend controls and usage analytics are included on Business, so overrun is visible if somebody is watching.
The tier trap
SCIM, enterprise key management, domain verification, custom data retention and data residency are Enterprise only, and Enterprise has no published price. The moment your security review asks for any of them you leave self-serve pricing and enter a quote you cannot benchmark against a list price.
Read this first. Business seat prices, the 2 to 200 seat range and the Enterprise feature list were read on openai.com/business/pricing on 17 October 2026. Enterprise has no published price. The SpendHound figures are average total OpenAI spend including API usage and are not an Enterprise seat rate. This page covers Business and Enterprise only, so individual ChatGPT Plus and Pro pricing is not covered here. Trial and renewal terms are not published on the business pricing page.

Where the bill grows
A ChatGPT invoice is seats plus whatever you built around them. These are the places it moves.
Premium seats cost 5x a standard seat
A premium seat is USD 100 against USD 20 on annual billing. Ten of them add USD 9,600 a year, and the only justification is people who genuinely hit the 5-hour usage window.
The 200-seat Business ceiling
Business stops at 200 seats. Past that you are in Enterprise, where there is no published price and the deal depends on your negotiation.
Enterprise price is unpublished by design
The page lists volume discounts as an Enterprise feature, so your rate is a function of seat count and timing. Without a competing quote you have no anchor.
Seats bought on a card by individual teams
Business is self-serve from 2 seats, so several departments can each run their own workspace. Consolidating them later is the single biggest saving most companies find.
Monthly billing premium
Paying monthly costs 25% more per seat than the annual rate, USD 25 against USD 20. On 50 seats that is USD 3,000 a year for flexibility you may not use.
API spend is a separate bill
ChatGPT seats and OpenAI API usage are different line items. SpendHound's vendor data puts average annual OpenAI spend at USD 44,318 for SMBs and USD 318,506 for enterprises, which includes API usage and not just seats.

Which ChatGPT plan should you pick?
Business standard seat
Pick it for teams of 2 to 200 doing everyday work, with connectors, SAML SSO and central billing included.
Business premium seat
Pick it for heavy users who keep hitting the 5-hour usage window. It can sit in the same workspace as standard seats.
Enterprise
Pick it for large or regulated organizations that need SCIM, key management, data residency in ten regions and SLAs.
Our view
ChatGPT Business is straightforward value for small and mid-sized teams, because the price is published and the controls are included. Enterprise is where the cost becomes a negotiation, so the buyer who arrives with a seat count and a competing quote does better than the one who waits for an offer.
You may be overpaying if
Several departments run separate workspaces, premium seats were handed out by default, or you pay monthly on a team that never changed size.
How to pay less for ChatGPT
Consolidate departmental workspaces
Business is self-serve from 2 seats, so duplicate workspaces are common. One workspace means one negotiation and one set of admin controls.
Commit annually
Annual billing is USD 20 against USD 25 per standard seat, a 20% saving. On 50 seats that is USD 3,000 a year.
Right-size the premium seats
Use the included usage analytics to see who actually hits the 5-hour limit, then buy premium only for them. Each seat you move back saves USD 960 a year.
Carry a competing quote into the Enterprise conversation
Claude Team is USD 20 per seat per month annually and Microsoft 365 Copilot Business is USD 18 per user per month annually. Enterprise volume discounts are listed on OpenAI's own page, so ask for them explicitly.
Set spend controls before adoption
Spend controls and usage analytics are included on Business. Turning them on at the start is the difference between managing a bill and explaining one.
Separate seat spend from API spend
Track ChatGPT seats and OpenAI API usage as two line items. Teams that merge them lose the ability to tell which one is growing.
What other buyers report
SpendHound's vendor dataset, as of July 2026, puts average annual OpenAI spend at USD 44,318 for companies with 50 to 1,000 employees and USD 318,506 for companies with over 1,000 employees. These are averages across all OpenAI spend including API usage, not Enterprise seat contract values. Source

ChatGPT alternatives and what they cost
If this vendor does not fit, these are the closest options and what they charge.
AI seat counts grow fast once a tool works. Track who uses their seat each month and move unused ones back before renewal.
Track who holds a seat. Keep one list of paid seats, their owners and the date each was last used. Our guide to vendor management shows how to set that up.
Put renewals on a calendar. Log every renewal date and notice period in a contract renewal tracker so nobody finds out after the term rolls over.
Route new buys through one request. Cards and expense claims hide duplicate subscriptions. A short purchase requisition step catches them before the first payment.
Know your whole software bill. Pull every vendor into one view with a spend analysis template, then look at the tools with the fastest growth.
Bottom line. Start on Business, bill annually, consolidate workspaces, and keep premium seats for measured heavy users. Move to Enterprise only when a security requirement forces it, and bring a competing quote.
ChatGPT pricing questions
How much does ChatGPT cost per user for a business?
A ChatGPT Business standard seat is USD 20 per seat per month billed annually or USD 25 billed monthly. A premium seat, which gives 5x more usage with no 5-hour limit, is USD 100 annually or USD 125 monthly. You can mix both seat types in one workspace.
Is there a free version of ChatGPT for companies?
There is a free ChatGPT tier, but it is for individuals and is not part of the Business offering. The business pricing page starts at paid seats, because the admin controls, SAML SSO, central billing and the commitment not to train on business data all come with a paid workspace.
How much is ChatGPT Enterprise?
OpenAI does not publish Enterprise pricing and asks you to contact sales. Its own page lists invoicing and volume discounts as Enterprise features, so the rate depends on seat count. SpendHound's data puts average annual OpenAI spend at USD 318,506 for companies over 1,000 employees, including API usage.
Can you get a discount on ChatGPT Business?
Annual billing saves 20% per seat, USD 20 against USD 25. Beyond that the published lever is Enterprise volume discounts, which OpenAI lists explicitly, so ask for them in writing against a named seat count and do not wait for an offer.
Is ChatGPT Business cheaper billed annually?
Yes. A standard seat drops from USD 25 to USD 20 per month and a premium seat from USD 125 to USD 100, a 20% saving on both. For 50 standard seats that is USD 3,000 a year, and for a mixed 50-seat workspace with 10 premium seats it is USD 6,000.
What is the cheapest alternative to ChatGPT Business?
Microsoft 365 Copilot Business is the cheapest mainstream option at USD 18 per user per month on annual billing, though it requires a qualifying Microsoft 365 plan first. Claude Team matches ChatGPT at USD 20 per seat per month and Gemini Enterprise Business is USD 21.
