Every Microsoft 365 business and enterprise plan in plain numbers, what Copilot and monthly billing add, and where the 300-user cap bites.
The short answer
Microsoft 365 costs USD 7 (Business Basic), USD 14 (Business Standard) and USD 22 (Business Premium) per user per month paid yearly, or 20% more on a monthly subscription. Microsoft 365 is usually the biggest per-seat line in a software budget because everyone gets a license. Email, Office apps, Teams and file storage all ride on it. List prices are public, but the bill depends on choices made at checkout: monthly or annual commitment, Teams or no Teams, and whether Copilot is added.
This guide prices Business Basic, Standard and Premium and the enterprise E3 and E5 suites from Microsoft's official US pages, then shows what Copilot and billing terms add.
Prices below were recorded on 12 October 2026. The headline figure is the lowest price you can get for that plan. Check the official page before you buy, because vendors change prices without notice.

How billing works
Microsoft lists Business plan prices per user per month paid yearly, on an annual subscription that auto-renews. The same plans on a monthly subscription cost 20% more (USD 8.40, USD 16.80 and USD 26.40). Business plans cap at 300 users, so larger organizations move to enterprise suites such as E3 at USD 39 and E5 at USD 60 on annual commitment. Once a paid subscription starts there is a 7-day window to cancel for a prorated refund. Versions without Teams are cheaper, for example Business Standard (no Teams) at USD 10.79.
The tier trap
Business plans stop at 300 users. Cross that line, or need enterprise compliance, and the next step is E3 at USD 39 per user, a 77% jump from Business Premium at USD 22, before any Copilot seats.
Read this first. All plan prices (Basic USD 7, Standard USD 14, Premium USD 22, Apps for business USD 10, E3 USD 39, E5 USD 60, Copilot USD 30 and Copilot Business USD 21 or USD 18 promotional) and monthly prices (USD 8.40, USD 16.80, USD 26.40) were read on microsoft.com en-us pages on 12 October 2026 in a rendered browser. The Copilot Business USD 18 price is a promotion valid 1 July to 31 December 2026, first year only. The USD 32 Business Premium with Copilot and USD 23.50 Business Standard with Copilot bundle prices may also be promotional, so recheck the third scenario after December 2026. The earlier prices in the history (USD 6, USD 12.50, USD 36, USD 57) come from ProArch, not Microsoft. Google Workspace and Zoho Workplace prices in the alternatives table are from 2026 third-party sources, because Google's page served INR. The Slack price is a list figure and should be rechecked on slack.com.

Pick it if staff work in the browser and need only email, Teams and file storage.
Pick it if people need desktop Office apps and you have 300 users or fewer.
Pick it if you need policy-based identity and device security without an enterprise agreement.
Pick it if you have more than 300 users or need enterprise compliance controls.
Our view
Microsoft 365 is strong value for most companies because email, Office, Teams and storage come in one license. Business Standard covers the typical office worker, Business Premium is worth the extra USD 8 only when you will use its security controls, and Copilot should be bought for proven users and not the whole tenant.
You may be overpaying if
You pay monthly instead of yearly, you put frontline or browser-only staff on Business Standard, you buy Business Premium but never configure its security features, or you assigned Copilot to every user without checking usage.
Monthly subscriptions cost 20% more than paying yearly on every Business plan.
Put browser-only staff on Business Basic at USD 7 and keep USD 14 desktop seats for people who need the apps.
No-Teams versions are cheaper, for example Business Standard (no Teams) at USD 10.79.
License Copilot for a measured group, then expand on real usage, and lock in the first-year promotional price where eligible.
Remove unused licenses before the annual term renews, because the 7-day cancellation window closes quickly.
Larger tenants can ask a Microsoft partner or sales about volume pricing before renewal.

| Google Workspace | USD7 per user per month (Business Starter, annual) | You want Gmail, Docs and Meet and do not need desktop Office apps Read our Google Workspace pricing guide |
| Zoho Workplace | USD3 per user per month (Standard, annual) | A small team needs email and office apps at the lowest price |

Every employee holds a license, so a tenant quietly collects seats for leavers, shared mailboxes and trial accounts. Nobody sees the waste until the renewal invoice.
Bottom line. Put most office staff on Business Standard, reserve Business Premium for when you will use its security, and pay yearly. Treat Copilot as a separate purchase with its own usage review, and reclaim unused licenses before each renewal date.
Paid yearly, Microsoft 365 Business Basic is USD 7, Business Standard USD 14 and Business Premium USD 22 per user per month. A monthly subscription costs USD 8.40, USD 16.80 and USD 26.40. Enterprise E3 is USD 39 and E5 USD 60 per user per month on annual commitment.
No. Microsoft 365 business plans are paid, but Business Basic, Standard and Premium come with a one-month free trial. A credit card is required and the trial converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends.
Microsoft 365 Copilot Business is USD 21 per user per month for Business plans up to 300 users, with a USD 18 first-year promotion through 31 December 2026. Microsoft 365 Copilot for enterprise plans is USD 30 per user per month paid yearly, or USD 31.50 paid monthly.
Yes. Paying yearly is about 17% cheaper than a monthly subscription, no-Teams versions cost less, nonprofit plans exist, and Copilot Business has a first-year promotion. Larger organizations can ask Microsoft partners or sales about volume terms.
Yes. Business Standard costs USD 14 per user per month paid yearly against USD 16.80 on a monthly subscription, so monthly costs 20% more. For a 50-person Business Standard team, paying yearly saves USD 1,680 a year.
Zoho Workplace Standard is among the cheapest at about USD 3 per user per month billed annually. Google Workspace Business Starter costs USD 7 per user per month on an annual plan, the same as Microsoft 365 Business Basic.
