Pricing guide, Productivity and Collaboration Suite
Every Google Workspace edition in plain numbers, how Flexible and Annual plans differ, and where the 2025 Gemini price rise left the bill.
The short answer
Google Workspace costs USD 7 to USD 22 per user per month on an Annual plan, or USD 8.40 to USD 26.40 on the Flexible Plan, with Enterprise quoted by sales. A 50-person team pays USD 4,200 a year on Business Starter or USD 8,400 on Business Standard at annual list price, before any reseller discount.

Google Workspace looks simple: four plans, one price per user. The real bill depends on two choices most companies make by accident, the edition everyone gets put on and whether you pay on the Flexible Plan or commit to an Annual plan.
Add the 2025 Gemini price rise and a 300-user ceiling, and the gap between a lean and a sloppy setup is thousands of dollars a year. This guide breaks down every plan, the billing rules and the levers that lower the invoice.
Prices below were recorded on 21 September 2026. The headline figure is the lowest price you can get for that plan. Check the official page before you buy, because vendors change prices without notice.

How billing works
Google sells Business plans two ways. The Flexible Plan bills monthly for however many licenses you hold, so you can add or remove users at any time. The Annual/Fixed-Term Plan is about 16 percent cheaper per user, but you commit to a license count for the year: you can add users mid-term, you generally cannot reduce the count until renewal, and cancelling early is charged for the remaining term. Business Starter, Standard and Plus are capped at 300 users. Above that you move to Enterprise pricing from sales.
The tier trap
Starter keeps Gemini out of Docs, Sheets and Meet and does not record meetings, so most teams end up on Standard, which doubles the per-user price. Legal holds and retention (Vault) then push you to Plus.
Read this first. The official pricing page loads, but its dollar figures render client side, so prices come from Email Vendor Selection (2026) and match the 2025 increase reported by 9to5Google. Please check workspace.google.com/pricing. Annual plan rules (no mid-term reduction, early cancellation charge, renewal options) come from Google's Admin Help plan docs, which could not be fetched, so confirm the wording. Vault and advanced endpoint management on Plus come from the standard comparison table.
Move the slider to see what each plan costs at your size. The figures use the list prices on this page and leave out tax, add-ons and any discount you negotiate.
Fifty users shows the cost of moving up an edition and the price of staying on the Flexible Plan.
| Scenario | Cost per year | Against the headline |

| Business Starter, Annual plan (50 users) | USD4,200 | Headline price |
| Team needs Meet recording and Gemini in Docs, so Business Standard annually (50 users) | USD8,400 | +USD 4,200 |
| Business Standard on the Flexible Plan instead of Annual (50 users) | USD10,080 | +USD 1,680 |

| Feature | Business Starter | Business Standard | Business Plus | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pooled storage per user | 30 GB | 2 TB | 5 TB | 5 TB+ |
| Meet participants | 100 | 150 | 500 | 1,000 |
| Maximum users | 300 | 300 | 300 | No cap |
Features we could not place by plan: Meet recording to Drive, Gemini in Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Meet, Chat, eSignature and appointment booking pages, Vault eDiscovery and retention, Data loss prevention and context-aware access, Data regions. Check the official page for which plan includes each one.
Pick it if you mostly need branded email, shared calendars and light Docs use with no recordings.
Pick it if your team records meetings, stores real volumes of files and wants Gemini inside Docs and Sheets.
Pick it if legal or compliance needs Vault retention and eDiscovery, or IT wants advanced endpoint management.
Pick it if you have more than 300 users, or need DLP, context-aware access or data regions.
Our view
Business Standard is fair value for most companies under 300 people: email, storage, Meet recording and Gemini in one bill at USD 14 per user on an annual plan. Starter only works for email-first teams, and Plus is worth it only when Vault retention is a real requirement.
You may be overpaying if
You are on the Flexible Plan with a stable headcount, you are paying for Plus but nobody uses Vault, or suspended accounts for leavers still hold paid licenses.
The Annual/Fixed-Term Plan is about 16 percent cheaper than Flexible. At 50 Business Standard users that is USD 1,680 a year.
Because annual seats cannot be cut mid-term, remove or archive leavers and contractors before renewal, not after.
Put frontline or email-only staff on Starter and keep Standard or Plus for heavy Drive and Meet users, instead of one edition for everyone.
Google Workspace resellers can offer their own promotional pricing and consolidated billing. Compare a reseller quote with the direct price.
Microsoft 365 Business Basic lists at USD 7 per user per month on annual commitment, so a real competing quote is easy to get.
Nonprofit Workspace editions were excluded from the 2025 price rise and have their own discounted pricing through Google for Nonprofits.

Productivity suites are the one license almost every employee has, so small waste multiplies. A suspended leaver, an oversized edition or a Flexible plan nobody reviewed repeats across the whole headcount.
Bottom line. Put most people on Business Standard, keep email-only staff on Starter and move to an Annual plan once headcount is stable. Run a license review 90 days before every renewal so leavers never roll into a new term.
Business Starter costs USD 7 per user per month on an Annual plan or USD 8.40 on the Flexible Plan. Business Standard is USD 14 or USD 16.80, and Business Plus is USD 22 or USD 26.40. Enterprise is quoted by sales. Prices are for the US and exclude taxes.
No. Google Workspace has no free business plan, but every edition comes with a 14-day free trial. Individuals can use a free personal Google account, and eligible nonprofits can apply for discounted or no-cost Workspace editions through Google for Nonprofits.
Google does not publish Enterprise prices. You get a quote from sales or a reseller. Enterprise removes the 300-user cap of the Business plans and adds data loss prevention, context-aware access, data regions and 1,000-participant meetings.
Yes. The Annual plan is about 16 percent cheaper than the Flexible Plan, resellers can offer their own promotional pricing, and nonprofits have dedicated editions. Larger customers negotiating Enterprise can also push on term length and seat count.
Yes. Business Standard drops from USD 16.80 to USD 14 per user per month on the Annual plan, about 16 percent less. For 50 users that saves USD 1,680 a year. The trade-off is that you generally cannot reduce licenses until the term renews.
Microsoft 365 Business Basic costs USD 7 per user per month on annual commitment, or USD 5.40 without Teams. For very small teams, Zoho Workplace offers a free Mail plan for up to 5 users, though with far less storage and collaboration.
