Why it matters

A rating is a promise

When a site gives a product four stars, it is promising that the number means something. We take that seriously. The rules below are the promises we make to you. Where we have not yet built something, we say so here instead of pretending.

How we rate

What goes into a rating

  • Ratings come from reviews written by people who use the product.
  • We ask reviewers about their role, company size and how long they have used the product.
  • Reviews are read before they are published. We reject reviews that look written by a vendor or its agents.
  • A score appears only when there are enough recent reviews to support it. Before then, products appear as starting points with fit notes.
  • We publish the review count and the date range next to any score we show.

We do not accept payment for a rating or for a better position in a list.

Reviews

What we accept and what we reject

Accepted

  • Reviews by current or former users, with a work email we can check.
  • Balanced reviews with both strengths and weak points.

Rejected

  • Reviews written by a vendor, a reseller or a competitor.
  • Reviews offered in return for payment or favours that are not disclosed.
  • Reviews that attack individuals or reveal confidential information.

Editorial policy

Our pages are written by the Procurement VMS Editorial Team. We work from vendor documentation, public pricing pages, public review sites and buyer feedback, and we name sources on the page where a fact could be checked.

  • No vendor can pay for a guide, a review or a position in a comparison.
  • No vendor edits our pages. Vendors can send corrections with a source.
  • Pages show a last updated date that changes only when the content does.
  • Examples we invent are labelled as illustrations. We do not publish invented quotes.
  • Each guide names its author team and its reviewer, with links to their profiles.
