Harvey AI pricing in 2026: what a legal AI quote includes
What drives a Harvey quote, which costs arrive on separate invoices, and how to negotiate terms you can still defend in year three.
The short answer
Harvey does not publish prices. It is sold only as a quoted annual enterprise contract with no free tier and no monthly option, and implementation, training and research integrations are quoted separately. CostBench reports a median contract of USD 175,000 a year from four buyer reports, a directional figure only.
Cheapest paid optionThere is none. Harvey is quote-only, with no free tier and no monthly plan.
How most firms startWith a scoped pilot in one practice group before committing firm-wide.
Biggest hidden costImplementation, training and research integrations quoted outside the license.
Best way to savePilot first, cap the annual escalator in writing and carry competing quotes.
Harvey is the clearest example of a category where price discovery is the whole job. There is no pricing page, no free tier and no monthly plan. Everything is an annual enterprise contract, quoted per firm, and the only people who know what it costs are the firms that signed and the vendor.
This guide therefore gives no list price. It sets out what drives the quote, which costs arrive on separate invoices, what third-party trackers report buyers paying, and how to negotiate terms you can still defend in year three.
Prices below were recorded on 17 October 2026. The headline figure is the lowest price you can get for that plan. Check the official page before you buy, because vendors change prices without notice.

How billing works
Harvey publishes no prices, has no free tier and has no monthly plan, so every number on your invoice comes out of a sales conversation. Four things drive the quote. Seat count and the practice groups in scope set the base. Research integrations are a separate line: a LexisNexis integration is reported to be charged per lawyer per year on top of the subscription. Implementation, onboarding and training are quoted separately from the license and reportedly range from a few thousand dollars to six figures depending on scope. Custom model work and premium support are further add-ons. Contracts are annual and reported to auto-renew with an annual escalation clause, so the second-year number is part of the first-year negotiation.
The tier trap
There is no tier ladder to climb, which is its own trap: because nothing is published, your price is set by what your firm agreed to and what your peers agreed to. The second trap is the research integration, reported to be charged per lawyer per year on top of the subscription, so the license quote is not the deployment cost.
Read this first. Quote-only vendor. All plan prices are custom and no numeric prices are shown. Harvey has no pricing page and no price was read from its site, so confidence is low. The three plan rows are descriptive engagement shapes (pilot, mid-size or in-house, firm-wide) and are not Harvey's own product names. Third-party figures are attributed to their source: escalation of 10% to 25% and the 10% to 20% two-year discount from CostBench, implementation of USD 5,000 to over USD 100,000 from eesel.ai via CostBench, and the LexisNexis integration charge per lawyer per year from CostBench. No per-seat estimate is given, because CostBench carries three inconsistent per-seat ranges with conflicting page dates and Layer3Labs gives a fourth set, so none is reliable enough to publish.

What 50 lawyers cost on a pilot, a firm-wide contract and with integrations
Harvey publishes no rates, so this table cannot show dollar figures. It shows what each scenario contains and where the quote moves.

Where the bill grows
A Harvey bill is a negotiated license plus separate services and integrations. These are the places it moves.
Implementation and onboarding
Quoted separately from the license and reported to range from a few thousand dollars to six figures depending on scope. Ask for a fixed fee in the same order form and not a later statement of work.
Research integrations charged per lawyer
A LexisNexis integration is reported to be charged per lawyer per year on top of the subscription. If your lawyers expect research inside Harvey, budget that line from the start.
Annual escalation on renewal
Third-party reporting describes annual price escalation clauses in Harvey contracts. An uncapped escalator compounds, so year three can look very different from year one.
Auto-renewal with no list price to fall back on
Contracts are reported to auto-renew. With nothing published, a renewal that happens by default is a renewal you cannot benchmark.
Mandatory training and change management
Training is listed as a separate cost by multiple sources. Unused seats on a quoted contract are the most expensive kind.
Custom model work and premium support
Fine-tuning, custom development and premium support are add-ons with no published rates, so scope creep has no price ceiling.

Which Harvey plan should you pick?
Scoped pilot
Pick it if you have not yet proved the use case and want a baseline before a firm-wide number is set.
Mid-size firm or in-house legal team
Pick it if a defined group of lawyers will use it daily and you can hold the seat list to that group.
Firm-wide enterprise rollout
Pick it only once adoption is proven in a pilot, because volume discounting is worth more when you know the real seat count.
A general assistant instead
Pick it if your legal team mainly drafts and summarizes, where a USD 20 per seat per month general AI seat may cover the work.
Our view
Harvey is bought by firms that have decided legal-specific AI is worth a six-figure commitment, and for them the question is whether the quote is defensible. Because nothing is published, value is a function of negotiation: scope, escalation cap, implementation fee and integration costs. A firm without a pilot behind it and a competing quote beside it pays whatever was asked.
You may be overpaying if
You went firm-wide without a pilot, you accepted an uncapped annual escalator, or implementation and research integrations arrived as separate invoices after the license was signed.
How to pay less for Harvey
Pilot before you commit firm-wide
A scoped pilot, reportedly at reduced pricing, gives you adoption data and a baseline. Volume discounting only helps if you know the seat count you need.
Cap the annual escalator in writing
CostBench reports annual price escalation of 10% to 25% in Harvey contracts. Capping it at signature is worth more over three years than a first-year discount.
Price the multi-year trade properly
A two-year commitment is reported to bring a 10% to 20% volume discount. Take it only if the escalator is capped, otherwise you have locked in the increase too.
Fix implementation as a single stated fee
Implementation and integration are reported to range from USD 5,000 to over USD 100,000. Put the number in the same order form as the license.
Carry a competing quote
Shortlist CoCounsel and Spellbook and get written quotes. For drafting and summarizing work, Claude Team at USD 20 per seat per month is a fair comparison.
Audit seats by practice group before renewal
Pull usage by practice group 90 days out and renew on the lawyers who actually log in.
What other buyers report
CostBench, last verified 1 July 2026, reports a median Harvey contract of USD 175,000 a year from four buyer reports via Vendr deal flow, and describes that as a small sample and a directional anchor only. Source

Subject: Harvey renewal on [renewal date]
Hi [account manager],
Our Harvey [plan] subscription renews on [renewal date]. Over the last 90 days, [active lawyers] of the [paid lawyers] we pay for used it.
We would like to renew with [target lawyers] on a [term] term. Before we sign, please send:
1. The current list price and the price you are offering us, line by line.
2. The cap on any price increase at the next renewal.
3. The notice period if we want to cut lawyers or move to another plan.
We are comparing this against [alternative] and plan to decide by [decision date]. If you can offer [target discount] percent off list, or a lower price for a longer term, we are ready to talk this week.
Thank you,

Keeping Harvey spend under control
Legal AI is bought by a partner or general counsel and adopted unevenly. The seat list, not the quote, is what you pay for at renewal.
Track who holds a seat. Keep one list of paid seats, their owners and the date each was last used. Our guide to vendor management shows how to set that up.
Put renewals on a calendar. Log every renewal date and notice period in a contract renewal tracker so nobody finds out after the term rolls over.
Route new buys through one request. Cards and expense claims hide duplicate subscriptions. A short purchase requisition step catches them before the first payment.
Know your whole software bill. Pull every vendor into one view with a spend analysis template, then look at the tools with the fastest growth.
Bottom line. Pilot in one practice group, then negotiate the firm-wide contract with the escalator capped, implementation fixed in the same order form and the non-renewal notice period in writing. Record the renewal date, the notice period and the escalator cap where a person will see them 90 days out.
Harvey pricing questions
How much does Harvey cost per lawyer?
Harvey does not publish a per-lawyer price. It is sold as a quoted annual enterprise contract, so the rate depends on seat count, the practice groups in scope and what you negotiate. Any per-seat figure you find online is a third-party estimate and not a vendor rate.
Is there a free version or free trial of Harvey?
There is no free tier and no self-serve trial. The usual route in is a scoped pilot covering one practice group or a limited seat count, reportedly at reduced pricing, which is also how firms build a baseline before negotiating the firm-wide contract.
How much is Harvey for an enterprise or large firm?
Harvey publishes nothing, so there is no enterprise list price. CostBench, verified 1 July 2026, reports a median contract of USD 175,000 a year from four buyer reports via Vendr deal flow, and calls that a small sample and a directional anchor.
Can you get a discount on Harvey?
Volume discounting on firm-wide seat counts and a reported 10% to 20% reduction for a two-year commitment are the levers buyers describe. The more valuable negotiation is capping the annual escalation clause, which CostBench reports at 10% to 25%, because it compounds across the term.
Does Harvey offer monthly billing?
No. Harvey is reported to be sold only as an annual enterprise contract, with no monthly plan and no free tier. There is no low-commitment way to test it at scale, which is why the scoped pilot matters in this purchase.
What is the cheapest alternative to Harvey?
Among legal-specific tools, CoCounsel and Spellbook are the usual shortlist, and both are quote-based, though Spellbook offers a 7-day free trial. If your team mainly drafts and summarizes, Claude Team at USD 20 per seat per month is a far cheaper comparison.
We start from the vendor pricing page and note the date. Where a figure comes from a third party instead, we say so on the page. Procurement VMS is a ratings and comparison site, not a software vendor, and nobody paid for a place in this guide. Spot a number that has changed? Tell us on the contact page and we will check it.
