Mixpanel plans and prices

Mixpanel is one of the few analytics vendors that still publishes its whole price ladder, which makes it easy to budget and easy to outgrow. Seats are unlimited and the free tier covers a million events a month, so the bill tracks what your product does and not how many people log in.

That is also the catch. Every event your engineers add is a small commercial decision, and nobody treats it as one. This guide walks the published ladder, prices the tier most teams land on, and shows where add-ons and allowances sit outside the headline number.

Prices below were recorded on 17 October 2026. The headline figure is the lowest price you can get for that plan. Check the official page before you buy, because vendors change prices without notice.

How billing works

Mixpanel bills on events tracked and not on seats, so every plan has unlimited users and the bill moves with product usage and not headcount. Growth starts at USD 0 a month because the first 1 million events are included, then steps up a published volume ladder: USD 100 a month at 1.5 million events on annual billing, USD 438 at 5 million, USD 840 at 10 million and USD 1,635 at 20 million, with anything above 20 million quoted by sales. Annual billing is materially cheaper than monthly at every step, roughly 29% at 5 million events, and Mixpanel publishes the annual total alongside each tier. Session replays, experiment monthly experimented users and feature flags all carry their own included allowances with paid expansion on top. Growth includes 20,000 replays with up to 500,000 available, and 5,000 MEU with up to 100,000 available. Group Analytics and Data Pipelines are paid add-ons even on Growth, and Metric Trees is a paid add-on on Enterprise.

The tier trap

SAML SSO and SCIM, the Query API, data warehouse connectors and custom properties all start on Growth, so any security review or data team requirement takes you off Free whatever your event volume. Group Analytics and Data Pipelines are then paid add-ons on top of Growth.

Read this first. All Mixpanel figures, including the Growth event ladder, the annual and monthly totals, the published annual savings, the replay and MEU allowances, the add-on list and the Startup Program terms, were read on Mixpanel's official pricing page on 17 October 2026. The calculator shows annual-billing monthly prices from 1 million to 20 million events. Above 20 million events Enterprise is quoted. No 2026 buyer-paid benchmark for Mixpanel was found, and no dated price change is asserted.

Where the bill grows

A Mixpanel bill is an event tier plus add-ons and allowances. These are the places it moves.

Monthly billing costs about 29% more

At 5 million events a month, monthly billing is USD 613 against USD 438 on annual, which is USD 2,100 a year for the same analytics.

Instrumentation changes your bill

Mixpanel meters events, so adding autocapture or a chatty new event to a release can push you up a tier with no commercial decision taken.

Paid add-ons on a paid plan

Group Analytics and Data Pipelines are add-ons even on Growth, and Metric Trees is an add-on on Enterprise, so the plan price is not the whole product.

Session replay and experiment allowances

Growth includes 20,000 replays and 5,000 monthly experimented users. Expanding to 500,000 replays or 100,000 MEU is priced separately.

The Free plan has no custom properties

Free excludes custom and borrowed properties, alerts, the Query API, warehouse connectors and SSO, so most teams outgrow it on features before volume.

Above 20 million events there is no list price

The published ladder stops at 20 million events a month. Everything above that is quoted, which removes your ability to model the next step.

Which Mixpanel plan should you pick?

Free

Pick it if you are under 1 million events a month and do not need SSO, custom properties or the Query API.

Growth

Pick it for most product teams, at USD 438 a month billed annually at 5 million events.

Enterprise

Pick it if you need HIPAA tools with BAAs, unlimited alerts with anomaly detection, first-party tracking domains or custom retention.

Our view

Mixpanel is good value for product teams between 1 million and 20 million events a month, because the ladder is published, seats are unlimited and the free tier is usable. It is weaker value if your event volume is high but your analysis is shallow, since you pay for every event collected whether or not anyone queries it.

You may be overpaying if

You are billed monthly and not annually, you collect high-volume events nobody analyzes, or you are on Growth purely for SSO when your usage would fit inside the free tier.

How to pay less for Mixpanel

  1. Switch to annual billing

At 5 million events a month, annual billing is USD 438 against USD 613, which Mixpanel's own table puts at USD 2,100 of annual savings.

  2. Audit what you are tracking

Mixpanel bills per event, so dropping high-volume events nobody puts in a report moves you down a published tier without negotiating a discount.

  3. Check the add-ons you are paying for

Group Analytics and Data Pipelines are separate line items. Confirm both are used before they renew.

  4. Right-size replay and experiment volumes

Replay and MEU allowances expand on paid tiers up to 500,000 replays and 100,000 MEU. Buy the band you use and not the one you planned for.

  5. Check the startup program

Mixpanel offers the first year free, including 1 billion events and 1 million session replays, to companies founded less than 5 years ago with up to USD 8 million in total funding.

  6. Benchmark before the renewal

PostHog is free to 1 million events then USD 0.00005 per event, and Amplitude Plus is USD 5,388 a year on annual prepay at about 5 million events. Both are usable reference points.

AlternativeStarting pricePick it when
PostHogUSD0 for the first 1 million events a month, then USD 0.00005 per eventYour volume is modest or spiky and you want to pay strictly per event
AmplitudeUSD561 per month, or USD 5,388 a year on annual prepay, at about 5 million eventsYou want a comparable product analytics suite and prefer Amplitude's modelling

Keeping Mixpanel spend under control

Event volume grows with every release. Compare what you track with what anyone queries before each renewal.

  • Match the plan to real volume. Analytics tools price by events, rows or users. Pull 90 days of real volume before you choose a tier.
  • Watch the overage rules. Find out what happens when you pass the limit. Some vendors bill the overage at a higher rate, others force a tier change.
  • Put the renewal on a calendar. Use a renewal tracker and review usage 90 days before the date.
  • Include the tool in your spend view. Add it to your spend analysis so growth in data tools is visible to finance.

Bottom line. Commit annually, review what you track against what anyone queries, and check the add-ons before they renew.
