Fivetran pricing in 2026: monthly active rows, the USD 12,000 annual minimum and transformation runs
What a monthly active row counts, what Fivetran's own published example costs, and where the annual minimum changes the math for smaller teams.
The short answer
Fivetran prices on monthly active rows and publishes no rate card. Free covers 500,000 connector MAR a month. Fivetran's own Standard example, 992,286 MAR across four connectors, comes to USD 511.15 a month, about USD 6,134 a year. Annual contracts start at a USD 12,000 minimum with discounts of 5% to 22.6%.
Cheapest paid entryA USD 5 a month minimum per connection on monthly pay as you go.
What most teams needStandard, where Fivetran's own example of about 1 million MAR a month is USD 511.15.
Biggest hidden costThe USD 12,000 annual contract minimum, which can double a small team's bill.
Best way to saveCut the tables and columns you sync, because MAR counts changed rows and not sync frequency.
Fivetran sells the thing data teams least want to build: connectors that keep working when a source API changes. The pricing is where finance teams come unstuck, because it is metered on monthly active rows and Fivetran publishes no rate card.
This guide covers what MAR counts, what Fivetran's own published examples cost, where the USD 12,000 annual minimum changes the math for smaller teams, and the second meter on transformations that most budgets miss.
Prices below were recorded on 17 October 2026. The headline figure is the lowest price you can get for that plan. Check the official page before you buy, because vendors change prices without notice.

How billing works
Fivetran charges for monthly active rows, meaning rows inserted, updated or deleted in a month, counted once per row however many times it changed. Totals depend on how much your sources churn and not on how many people use the tool or how much data you store, and users are unlimited on every paid plan. Fivetran does not publish a rate card. The pricing page shows worked examples, and its Standard example for a 1 to 200 employee company comes to USD 511.15 a month across four connectors totaling 992,286 MAR. On monthly pay as you go there is a USD 5 minimum charge for each connection consuming between 1 MAR and 1 million MAR. Annual contracts work the other way: the minimum is USD 12,000 and discounts run from 5% up to 22.6% on Standard and Enterprise by annual list price, reaching 36.42% on Business Critical. Transformations are metered separately per successful model run: free to 5,000, then USD 0.01 from 5,001 to 30,000, USD 0.007 to 100,000 and USD 0.002 above that.
The tier trap
SCIM provisioning, custom roles, VPN tunnels and 1-minute syncs all start on Enterprise, and customer-managed encryption keys and PCI DSS Level 1 exist only on Business Critical. Fivetran's discount tables start Business Critical from a much higher band than Standard, so a single compliance requirement can reprice your whole pipeline.
Read this first. Medium confidence. Everything was read on fivetran.com on 17 October 2026, but Fivetran publishes no per-MAR rate card, and the Service Consumption Table it points to rendered with no rates. Every dollar figure here comes from Fivetran's own examples, minimums, discount bands and transformation tiers, and none is a derived per-MAR rate. The official pricing page lists Free, Standard, Enterprise and Business Critical, so no Starter plan is priced. The Business Critical comparison is inferred from Fivetran's discount tables and worded qualitatively. The March 2025 model change cites Fivetran's pre-March 2025 documentation page and establishes the change of model, not a specific rate change.

Where the bill grows
A Fivetran bill is a row meter, a connection floor and a model-run meter. These are the places it moves.
The USD 12,000 annual minimum
Annual contracts start at USD 12,000 whatever your usage, so a team consuming USD 6,000 of MAR a year pays double to get the annual discount.
Transformations are a second meter
Model runs bill separately: free to 5,000, then USD 0.01 each to 30,000. A 30,000-run month is USD 250 on top of all MAR charges.
A schema change can double your MAR
MAR counts any row inserted, updated or deleted. A source that starts touching every row nightly, or a full re-sync, multiplies the meter without anyone changing a setting.
The USD 5 per connection base charge
On monthly pay as you go, every connection using between 1 MAR and 1 million MAR carries a USD 5 minimum, so a long tail of tiny connectors has a floor cost.
VPN tunnels need an annual contract
Enterprise VPN tunnels are available on annual contracts only, so a networking requirement also forces the USD 12,000 minimum commitment.
No published rate card
Fivetran publishes examples and not per-MAR rates, so you cannot model a budget from the website. Every forecast depends on a quote.

Which Fivetran plan should you pick?
Free
Pick it if you are under 500,000 connector MAR and 5,000 model runs a month and can live on monthly pay as you go.
Standard
Pick it for most teams, where 15-minute syncs, 700-plus connectors and role-based access control are enough.
Enterprise
Pick it if you need SCIM, custom roles, VPN tunnels or 1-minute syncs, and can accept an annual contract.
Business Critical
Pick it only if customer-managed encryption keys, PCI DSS Level 1 or private networking are hard requirements.
Our view
Fivetran is worth paying for when connector maintenance eats engineering time and the sources you need are in the managed catalog. It is poor value for a few simple, stable sources, because the USD 12,000 annual minimum and the MAR meter both punish low, predictable volume.
You may be overpaying if
You run a handful of small stable connectors that a cheaper tool or a script would handle, you signed the USD 12,000 annual minimum for usage worth far less, or your sources re-sync more rows than your analysts query.
How to pay less for Fivetran
Cut what you sync, not how often
MAR counts changed rows, so excluding unused tables and columns attacks the meter directly. Sync frequency is not what drives the bill.
Check the annual minimum math
Annual contracts discount 5% to 22.6% but start at USD 12,000. Below roughly that level of usage, monthly pay as you go is cheaper even at list price.
Find the connector that is eating the meter
In Fivetran's own example, one Marketo connector at 847,574 MAR accounted for USD 424.54 of a USD 511.15 monthly total. One source usually dominates.
Keep transformations under the tier break
Model runs are free to 5,000 and then USD 0.01 each. Consolidating models keeps the second meter near zero.
Do not buy Business Critical for one feature
Fivetran's discount tables start Business Critical from a far higher list band than Standard. Confirm the compliance requirement is real before repricing every row.
Quote the alternatives before renewing
Airbyte Standard at USD 20 a month with 5 credits, Stitch Standard from USD 100 a month and Hevo Starter at USD 239 a month billed annually are concrete comparisons.
What other buyers report
Vendr reports an average Fivetran contract value of USD 48,384 a year, with contracts ranging from USD 15,000 to USD 129,060 and buyers saving about 17% on average, based on data from 770 purchases (page last updated February 2026). Source

Stitch

Keeping Fivetran spend under control
Row counts move with your sources, not with your headcount. Review which connectors feed reports anyone reads before every renewal.
Match the plan to real volume. Analytics tools price by events, rows or users. Pull 90 days of real volume before you choose a tier.
Watch the overage rules. Find out what happens when you pass the limit. Some vendors bill the overage at a higher rate, others force a tier change.
Put the renewal on a calendar. Use a renewal tracker and review usage 90 days before the date.
Include the tool in your spend view. Add it to your spend analysis so growth in data tools is visible to finance.
Bottom line. Get the per-MAR rate written down, cut unused tables before you sign, and check whether the annual minimum beats monthly pay as you go at your real volume.
Fivetran pricing questions
How much does Fivetran cost per million rows?
Fivetran does not publish a per-MAR rate card. Its Standard pricing example shows 992,286 monthly active rows across four connectors costing USD 511.15 a month, which is about USD 6,134 a year. Your rate depends on volume and plan.
Is there a free version of Fivetran?
Yes. Free covers 500,000 connector MAR, 3,500 activation MAR and 5,000 monthly model runs, with Standard features inside those limits. It is monthly pay as you go only, and the USD 5 base charge does not apply.
How much does Fivetran Enterprise cost?
Fivetran does not publish Enterprise prices. Its discount tables show Enterprise annual list prices of USD 0 to USD 50,526 attracting 5% off, and USD 193,787 and above attracting 22.6% or more. Vendr reports an average contract value of USD 48,384 a year.
Can you get a discount on Fivetran?
Yes. Annual contracts discount 5% to 22.6% on Standard and Enterprise by annual list price, and up to 36.42% on Business Critical. Enterprise License Agreements offer a fixed yearly price with no consumption limits, priced on request.
Is Fivetran cheaper on an annual contract?
Only above a certain volume. Annual contracts discount 5% to 22.6% but carry a USD 12,000 minimum, so a team consuming about USD 6,000 of MAR a year pays more on annual than on monthly pay as you go.
What is the cheapest alternative to Fivetran?
Airbyte is cheapest to start, at USD 20 a month for Standard with 5 credits included, and it can also be self-hosted. Stitch Standard starts at USD 100 a month and Hevo Starter is USD 239 a month billed annually for up to 5 million events.
