Surfer prices by plan rather than by user. Each tier bundles a set number of team seats, documents, tracked pages and AI prompts, so the right plan depends on how many people write and how much content you optimize each year.
This guide lays out every plan from Surfer's official pricing page and shows what a small content team really pays.
Prices below were recorded on 12 October 2026. The headline figure is the lowest price you can get for that plan. Check the official page before you buy, because vendors change prices without notice.

How billing works
Surfer bundles seats into each plan: 1 on Discovery, 3 on Standard, 5 on Pro and 10 on Peace of Mind. Yearly plans are charged upfront for the full year and save up to 17%. On yearly plans, credits reset yearly or whenever you change plan. Plans renew automatically each billing period until you turn off auto-renewal, and access continues to the end of the paid period. Bank transfer is available for yearly plans only, and PayPal is not accepted.
The tier trap
Standard and Pro include the same 360 documents, so the USD 83 a month step up to Pro on yearly billing buys seats, daily AI tracking and brand workspaces, not more content. A team of four writers has to pay for Pro even if its output fits Standard.
Read this first. Monthly prices (USD 59, USD 119, USD 219, USD 359, USD 95) were read from the official pricing page's monthly toggle data and match its "Save USD X" figures. The page does not list extra seat prices, a free trial length or a money-back guarantee, and older help articles on a 7-day guarantee now return 404, so no refund claim is made. Standard is marked as popular editorially, since the page does not mark one. CostBench changelog entries for 2026 plan renames conflict on dates and prices, so price history is left out. The CostBench benchmark (USD 588 median across 82 companies) is dated inconsistently on its page.
Move the slider to see what each plan costs at your size. The figures use the list prices on this page and leave out tax, add-ons and any discount you negotiate.
Three writers shows what billing monthly and moving up to Pro add to the same team.
| Scenario | Cost per year | Against the headline |
|---|---|---|
| Standard billed yearly (3 seats) | USD1,188 | Headline price |
| Standard billed monthly instead (3 seats) | USD1,428 | +USD 240 |
| Pro billed yearly for daily AI tracking and 5 brand workspaces (3 seats) | USD2,184 | +USD 996 |

Pick it if one writer wants to test Surfer on up to 120 documents a year.
Pick it if up to three people write and you want basic AI visibility tracking.
Pick it if you manage several brands, need daily AI tracking or have up to five users.
Pick it if you need API access, high volume and up to ten seats.
Our view
Surfer is good value for content teams that publish steadily and want on-page guidance in the editor. Standard covers most small teams, and Pro or above only pay off when seats, brands or AI tracking frequency are real requirements.
You may be overpaying if
You pay for Pro but use one brand workspace, you write far fewer than 360 documents a year, or you also pay for a separate content optimization tool that does the same job.
Yearly billing saves up to 17%, USD 240 a year on Standard.
Count the documents you optimized last year before choosing a tier.
Plans include 3, 5 or 10 seats, so give access to everyone who writes before buying another tool.
Change plan from the billing section at any time, and turn off auto-renewal if you are switching.
Frase and Clearscope offer competing quotes for the same job.
Large teams can request custom limits and pricing.

Content tools get added by whoever runs the blog. Credits go unused, and the yearly charge lands once with no one tracking document counts.
Bottom line. Standard fits most small content teams. Move to Pro only for seats, brands or daily AI tracking, pay yearly once usage is proven and check document usage before each renewal.
Surfer Discovery costs USD 59 a month, Standard USD 119, Pro USD 219 and Peace of Mind USD 359 billed monthly, or USD 49, USD 99, USD 182 and USD 299 a month billed yearly. Enterprise is priced on request. Seats are bundled: 1, 3, 5 and 10.
No. Surfer has no free plan, though each plan has a Start for Free button and Surfer offers free standalone tools such as an AI detector and humanizer. Check the trial terms at sign-up, since the pricing page does not state them.
Surfer does not publish Enterprise pricing and quotes it through a Surfer expert. Enterprise adds SSO, custom limits, white-label options, legal onboarding help and priority support. Peace of Mind at USD 299 a month yearly is the highest published plan.
Yearly billing is the published discount, saving up to 17% compared with monthly payments. Larger teams can ask about Enterprise terms. The other savings come from choosing the tier that matches your seats and document volume.
Yes. Yearly billing drops Standard from USD 119 to USD 99 a month and Pro from USD 219 to USD 182, saving USD 240 and USD 444 a year. You pay the full year upfront, and credits on yearly plans reset once a year.
Frase Starter costs USD 49 a month, or USD 39 billed yearly, for one seat. Clearscope Essentials costs USD 129 a month with unlimited users. Surfer's own Discovery plan, at USD 49 a month billed yearly, is the cheapest way to use Surfer.
