Drata pricing in 2026: framework count, headcount and the reported contract range
What drives a Drata quote, why a second framework roughly doubles it, and the reported figures you can use as an anchor.
The short answer
Drata publishes no prices. Capterra lists three custom-quote plans: Essential, Foundation and Advanced. Vendr reports a USD 24,934 median annual contract across 236 purchases, a USD 9,415 to USD 68,250 range and 23% average savings. A 100-employee program on two or three frameworks is estimated at USD 30,000 to USD 55,000.
Cheapest paid planThere is none to quote. All three Drata plans are custom quote.
What most teams needFoundation, estimated at USD 30,000 to USD 55,000 a year for 100 to 300 employees (Vendr).
Biggest hidden costThe framework count, which roughly doubles spend from the one-framework band to two or three.
Best way to saveRun a parallel Vanta bid and hold out for the 23% average saving Vendr reports.
Drata is a compliance automation platform, and it sells the way most of its category does: no price list, a scoping call and a quote. Capterra records no free version and no free trial.
This guide uses third-party figures from Vendr, Capterra and CostBench, each attributed, because no official Drata price was available to read. It shows what moves the quote and what to put in writing.
Prices below were recorded on 17 October 2026. The headline figure is the lowest price you can get for that plan. Check the official page before you buy, because vendors change prices without notice.

How billing works
Drata quotes every plan and publishes nothing. Capterra records all three plans as custom quote, with a billing model of "Other", no free version and no free trial. Vendr notes Drata does not sell in the traditional Basic, Pro and Enterprise shape, which is why its own estimates are framed by employee count and framework count and not by plan name. In practice the quote is driven by how many people are in scope, how many frameworks you want monitored, how many cloud and SaaS integrations must be connected, and whether you need multiple entities or a trust center. Contracts are annual. Because nothing is published, two companies of the same size can pay very different numbers, and Vendr reports buyers negotiate 23% off on average.
The tier trap
The trap with Drata is not a named feature behind a tier. It is the framework count. Adding a second or third framework is what moves you from the Essential band into the Foundation band on Vendr's figures, and that step is reported at roughly double the spend and not as an incremental add-on.
Read this first. Low confidence: Drata is quote-only and no official Drata page was read for this guide. The drata.com/pricing page could not be fetched and did not appear in search results, so the live URL is unconfirmed. Every figure here is third-party and attributed in the text. The plan names Essential, Foundation and Advanced come from Capterra and not from Drata. Vendr also states that Drata does not use traditional tiers, which conflicts with Capterra's three names. Vendr's page gives inconsistent deal counts, and this guide cites 236 purchases because that is the figure attached to the pricing data. Confirm renewal and notice terms in your order form.

Where the bill grows
A Drata bill is a platform subscription plus the audit work around it. These are the places it moves.
The audit is a separate invoice
Drata automates evidence collection and does not issue the opinion. The external auditor who signs your SOC 2 or ISO 27001 report bills you directly, and that engagement is not in the Drata quote.
No trial means no cheap pilot
Capterra records no free version and no free trial, so there is no low-cost way to test whether your stack integrates before you are in a twelve-month contract.
Framework count drives the band, not features
On Vendr's figures the jump from one framework to two or three roughly doubles annual spend, from the USD 15,000 to USD 25,000 band into USD 30,000 to USD 55,000.
Wide spread on similar deals
Vendr's observed range runs USD 9,415 to USD 68,250 a year. With nothing published, your starting quote depends heavily on what the rep thinks you can pay.
Employees in scope keep growing
Scope is tied to headcount. A hiring year you did not plan for shows up as a scope increase at renewal and not as a mid-term adjustment.

Which Drata plan should you pick?
Essential
Pick it if you are a startup taking on a first framework. Vendr estimates about USD 15,000 to USD 25,000 a year for 25 to 75 employees on one framework.
Foundation
Pick it if you are a growing team running two or three frameworks. Vendr estimates USD 30,000 to USD 55,000 for 100 to 300 employees.
Advanced
Pick it for larger or multi-entity programs. Vendr reports enterprise contracts commonly start around USD 60,000 a year and can exceed USD 100,000.
Our view
Drata is a sound fit when your auditor already accepts its evidence format and you run more than one framework, where automation pays for itself. The cost is set by scope you choose, so the buyer who defines scope before the first call controls the number.
You may be overpaying if
You bought a third framework a year before you start it, you let contractors and leavers inflate the headcount in scope, or you accepted an uncapped renewal increase.
How to pay less for Drata
Run Drata and Vanta as parallel bids
CostBench reports a USD 20,000 median for Vanta against Vendr's USD 24,934 median for Drata. Give both reps the same scope document and the same deadline, and tell each that you are doing it.
Scope to the frameworks you will certify
On Vendr's figures the move from one framework to two or three is roughly a doubling of annual spend. Do not buy the third framework a year before you start it.
Ask for the 23%
Vendr reports Drata buyers save 23% on average. That is a published average and not a stretch target, so treat the first quote as the opening number.
Count only people genuinely in scope
Scope is headcount-driven. Audit the list for contractors, service accounts and leavers before you let it set the quote.
Use Sprinto's terms as a benchmark
CostBench reports Sprinto contracts carry no auto-renewal and a USD 15,000 median. Quoting that at a vendor whose contract does auto-renew is a fair way to open the terms conversation.
Get the renewal increase capped in writing
Nothing is published, so nothing constrains the second-year number except the clause you negotiate now. Ask for a fixed cap and a plain non-renewal notice window.
What other buyers report
Vendr reports an average and median Drata contract of USD 24,934 a year, within a range of USD 9,415 to USD 68,250, with buyers saving about 23% on average (page last updated February 2026). Source

Subject: Drata renewal on [renewal date]
Hi [account manager],
Our Drata [plan] subscription renews on [renewal date]. Over the last 90 days, [active employees] of the [paid employees] we pay for used it.
We would like to renew with [target employees] on a [term] term. Before we sign, please send:
1. The current list price and the price you are offering us, line by line.
2. The cap on any price increase at the next renewal.
3. The notice period if we want to cut employees or move to another plan.
We are comparing this against [alternative] and plan to decide by [decision date]. If you can offer [target discount] percent off list, or a lower price for a longer term, we are ready to talk this week.

Keeping Drata spend under control
Compliance scope grows as you add customers who demand new frameworks. The quote follows scope, so write the renewal terms before you need the next one.
Ask for the security documents up front. Request the security report, the data processing terms and the insurance certificate before you sign. See supplier onboarding.
Score the vendor on risk, not only on price. A cheap tool with weak controls costs more after an incident. Use a vendor risk assessment template.
Watch the renewal date. Security tools are often bought on multi-year terms. Put the notice date in a renewal tracker.
Check the licence metric. Seats, devices and endpoints are counted differently by each vendor. Confirm which one you are paying for.
Bottom line. Define the frameworks and headcount before the first call, bid Drata against Vanta on one scope document, and cap the renewal increase in the first contract.
Drata pricing questions
How much does Drata cost per year?
Drata publishes no prices. Vendr reports an average and median contract of USD 24,934 a year across 236 purchases, within a USD 9,415 to USD 68,250 range. Your quote is driven by employees in scope, how many frameworks you want monitored, and how many integrations must be connected.
Is there a free version of Drata?
No. Capterra records no free version and no free trial for Drata, and no starting price. Every plan is listed as a custom quote, so there is no low-cost way to test whether your stack integrates cleanly before you sign an annual contract.
How much is Drata for an enterprise?
Drata does not publish it. Vendr reports enterprise contracts commonly start around USD 60,000 a year and can exceed USD 100,000, and notes Drata does not sell in the traditional Basic, Pro and Enterprise shape, so enterprise scope is set by entities, frameworks and headcount and not by a tier.
Can you get a discount on Drata?
Yes, and it is substantial. Vendr reports buyers save about 23% on average. The levers that work are a parallel Vanta or Secureframe quote, scoping to frameworks you will certify this year, and auditing the headcount the quote is priced on before you accept it.
Is Drata cheaper paid annually?
There is no monthly option published to compare against. Drata contracts are annual, and Capterra records the billing model only as "Other". The saving does not come from billing frequency. It comes from the discount you negotiate and the scope you refuse to pay for early.
What is the cheapest alternative to Drata?
Secureframe, on reported figures. CostBench reports it from about USD 7,500 a year for up to 100 employees on one framework, with a roughly USD 20,000 median. Sprinto is reported at a USD 15,000 median. All are quote-only, so run the bids in parallel on one scope document.
We start from the vendor pricing page and note the date. Where a figure comes from a third party instead, we say so on the page.
