Zoho Books is one of the cheapest full accounting systems with published prices, and it is priced per organization rather than per user. The catch is that each plan bundles a user count, transaction limits and features, and several useful tools such as BillPay and expense claims are add-ons.
This guide covers every US plan using prices from Zoho's official pricing page, then shows what a 5-person finance team really pays.
Prices below were recorded on 12 October 2026. The headline figure is the lowest price you can get for that plan. Check the official page before you buy, because vendors change prices without notice.

How billing works
Zoho Books is priced per organization, with a set number of users and yearly transaction limits on each plan. Paying yearly lowers the monthly price by 13% to 25% depending on the plan. Extra users cost USD 2.50 a month billed yearly (USD 3 monthly) and are not available on the Free plan. The Free plan stays free only while yearly revenue is under USD 50K. The top Ultimate plan costs USD 240 a month billed yearly (USD 275 monthly) for 15 users and adds advanced analytics.
The tier trap
Purchase orders, inventory and approval workflows all start on Professional, so the first time you need a PO process Standard is no longer enough. Budgets and cash flow forecasting wait until Premium.
Read this first. Prices were read on Zoho's US pricing page on 12 October 2026. The page shows two prices per plan behind a Monthly/Yearly toggle, and the lower figure is treated as the per-month price billed yearly, so confirm it on the toggle. Whether extra users are capped per plan is not stated. The calculator shows the organization price only, so add USD 30 a year for each user above the plan limit. Renewal and refund terms are not published on the pricing page. No buyer benchmark or dated price change was found.
Move the slider to see what each plan costs at your size. The figures use the list prices on this page and leave out tax, add-ons and any discount you negotiate.
Five users shows whether extra USD 2.50 seats beat a tier upgrade, and what an add-on adds.
| Scenario | Cost per year | Against the headline |
|---|---|---|
| Standard billed yearly, 3 included users plus 2 extra at USD 2.50 (5 users) | USD240 | Headline price |
| Purchase orders and approvals needed, so Professional billed yearly (5 users) | USD480 | +USD 240 |
| Professional plus the BillPay add-on at USD 59 a month, billed yearly (5 users) | USD1,188 | +USD 708 |

Our view
Zoho Books is strong value for small and mid-sized businesses, especially those already using other Zoho apps. Standard and Professional undercut most US rivals for similar features. Premium and above only make sense when planning, asset or inventory features are hard requirements.
You may be overpaying if
You moved up a tier only to get more users when USD 2.50 extra users would do, you pay monthly instead of yearly, or you pay for BillPay or expense claims that only a few people use.
Yearly billing cuts the monthly price by 13% to 25% depending on the plan.
Extra users cost USD 2.50 a month billed yearly, far less than moving up a tier for seats alone.
Businesses under USD 50K in yearly revenue can stay on the Free plan.
Check whether BillPay, expense claims and extra locations cost more than the next plan.
Use the 14-day free trial to confirm the tier you need.
QuickBooks Online and Xero give you a comparison point before renewal.
